Bill and Lyn are brand strategists and designers each bringing more than 35 years of hands-on design experience to their client work. Both Bill and Lyn have provided design leadership and creative direction for iconic Vermont, national, and international brands. The Harvey|Severance studio team includes Jen Trombley, a designer, researcher, and project manager who specializes in digital media. We partner with our clients, listen hard, and love to work in a collaborative way to create strategic branding solutions through compelling design. A work/life balance and considering environmental sustainability in everything we do, working in the for-profit world and giving back through non-profit work… all that keeps us engaged and looking for the next creative solution to a business problem.

Harvey Severance, Lyn Severance

A principal at Harvey | Severance, Lyn Severance is a native Vermonter and has more than 35 years of experience as a graphic designer, illustrator, creative director, and brand strategist. Lyn’s design strengths lie in her ability to combine business objectives and marketing needs with an unstudied sophistication and a strong link to the emotional qualities of the subject. She achieves this link through hand-lettering, illustration, color, pattern, texture, and a deep understanding of the principles of design. The work Lyn did for Ben & Jerry’s continues to contribute to its success. Her graphic foundation remains largely intact decades later, a clear indication of its continuing value.

Lyn received the AIGA Fellow Award in 2016 for lifetime achievements in design and previously served as the president of the AIGA Vermont chapter.

Trusted partners round out our project teams with specialties in consumer insights, photography, copywriting, printing, fabrication, and more. These talented people are a part of the key to our success, the fun in the H|S equation, our secret sauce. These folks–they know who they are–both inspire our work and challenge us to get to the next level. They help keep us balanced, too, by spending time with us outside the studio…foraging for mushrooms, sailing on Lake Champlain, hurtling down the slopes, cooking and eating. We’re so lucky to have such talented partners.
